David Jerry
David Jerry is a photographer who lives in New York City and has over 20 years of professional experience in photography.
As a gay man, he instinctively was moved to shoot male nudes early on is his photography work. Making his subjects feel at ease in front of the camera has been key to capturing relaxed unforced shots. His extra attention to lighting has been the foundation of conveying his minds-eye vision to photograph.
Cemeteries are another interest of David's. When he was first diagnosed with HIV (22 years ago), an early death seemed likely. Taking walks in solitude amongst the beauty and history of cemeteries has been a wonderful way for David to work through his fear of death. Now, with new treatment options and having an undetectable viral, his cemetery visits have new meaning. For example, you will see a photo in his gallery with rays of sun. This symbolizes how we are now able to live extended lives with this manageable disease.
David gives back to the community by facilitating a support group for gay men living with HIV in NYC: http://www.meetup.com/HIV-NYC-Support-Group-for-Gay-Men/
