Andrew J. Epstein has been drawing since his very early childhood, and he also started taking photographs early on.
A.J. has made his living primarily in the overlapping fields of graphic design, art, and photojournalism.
He has lived and for various periods of time in NYC, Tennessee, and Australia, holding down design-related jobs in each city.
Among the artists, photographers and designers he credits as influences and friends are Robert Mapplethorpe, Diane Arbus, Keith Haring, Barbara Nessim, Tom of Finland, and Roller Derby Divas, Joan Weston and Ann Calvello.
Andrew skated with the Blonde Bomber in the 1970s and is now working on a photography book about his adventures in the Roller Derby, and reminding the world of many unique and slightly compulsive people that he’s met.
