Jamie Goodyear

b.1973

Jamie Wilson Goodyear (b.1973 Gander, Newfoundland) received a Bachelor of Fine Arts, studio arts, from NSCAD University in 1996. After a few years with his own stained glass studio, he started studying glass at Espace Verre where he earned his technical diploma in fine craft, studio glass in 2009. In October 2011 he completed his Master of Art and Glass Science from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Universidade de Lisboa in Portugal. He completed his technical diploma in fine craft, ceramics at Centre du Céramique Bonsecours in 2016. Currently, he working toward his Ph.D. in Studies and Practices of Art at the Université du Québec à Montréal.

My inspirations are many and varied. They can be an idea I want to express, a story I need to tell or just the pleasure I get when I develop an attractive form. Many of my ideas come from history, science and personal experiences. Although most of the time, I am inspired by the feelings that are evoked in me when I wander in my thoughts. Wandering in thought is the heart of my creative process.
