John Boucher

b.1962

John Boucher is a nonfiction writer and artist living in West Hollywood, California. John started writing in HIV+ writing workshops sponsored by AHF, APLA, and the LA Gay & Lesbian Center. He was a 2009 PEN America Emerging Voice Fellow, and was the recipient of a 2010 UCLA Community Access Scholarship, where he began working on Dichondra, his dark humor nonfiction novel. John was a 2011 Lambda Literary Foundation Fellow and is a recipient of a 2016 City of West Hollywood & PEN America, Writing Craft Scholarship. His essay, “We Blessed”, won Art &Understanding magazines, 2017 Christopher Hewitt Award for nonfiction and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. His first published piece, “Speaking in Tongues,” won the 2009 Best Nonfiction Award for Washburn University’s inscape literary journal. It was republished by PEN America in Strange Cargo: An Emerging Voices Anthology. John earned his BFA from Corcoran School of the Arts & Design at George Washington University; and his MFA from Claremont Graduate University.
