Mya Lakas

b.1992

Mya Lakas is a multidisciplinary artist, community organizer and healer interested in decolonial resistance and healing justice. Drawing from her career as a social worker, her artwork aims to center the power and resilience of queer and trans Black indigenous people of color (QTBIPOC) across liberation movements. She is a proud transgender woman of the Filipinx diaspora, and loves learning about her ancestral heritage. Mya is based on the unceded territories and homelands of the Nisenan and Miwok people (colonially known as Sacramento, California).
