Malaya Lakas is a multidisciplinary artist, community organizer and healer interested in decolonial resistance and healing justice. Drawing from her career as a social worker, her artwork aims to center the power and resilience of queer and trans Black indigenous people of color (QTBIPOC) across liberation movements. She is a proud transgender woman of the Filipinx diaspora, and loves learning about her ancestral heritage. Malaya is currently based in Redding, California.

Padayon (Padayon means carry on, or move forward, in a deeper sense it also means to keep moving, or never give up.)

Makibaka (Makibaka means revolutionary struggle. It was also an acronym for Malayang Kilusan ng Bagong Kababaihan (Free Movement of New Women), a militant women's organization founded by Maria Lorena Barros.)
