Visual AIDS' 17th Annual Postcards From the Edge this past weekend was a resounding success!

THANK YOU to everyone who came, donated and supported Visual AIDS's Postcards From the Edge benefit, held this past weekend from January 30–February 1, 2015. We are immensely grateful to our host gallery Luhring Augustine, all the contributing artists and the extraordinary volunteers—this event could not happen without all your support and participation. Your generosity allows us to continue to support artists living with HIV, provoke dialogue around the ongoing AIDS epidemic, and preserve a legacy, because AIDS is not over.

A frigid Friday night was no match for the enthusiastic crowds that packed the Postcards from the Edge Preview Party. Artists and collectors alike were checking out the art, looking for their work, guessing whose work was whose, making notes and having a good time. Sales waited until Saturday morning, but the grand prize raffle winner selected postcard #72 (which turned out to be a postcard by Lawrence Weiner!)

Over three days, more than 1500 people visited the show and sale. There were 1662 postcard-sized works on display, the most postcards we have ever received! This year some of the beautifully diverse work included a golden postcard installation, an electronic back lit video-box, and an orange sculptural bloom. There were also hundreds of fabulous drawings, paintings and photographs.

On Saturday morning there was a line down the block of bundled up collectors waiting for the doors to open—and when the doors did open, there was a mad dash to each person's favorite postcards! Whether people bought one postcard or fifty, everyone seemed excited about their new finds!

Missed the event? Want to buy more postcard artwork? Check back on this website soon to learn how you can purchase more work. You can also email us at info@visualaids.org with postcard numbers that you are interested in, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

ATTENTION ARTISTS: Once we have processed the 1662 submissions, we will contact participating artists by post or e-mail in 4-6 weeks regarding the collector of your work. For unsold works, if you indicated on your submission form that you would like your unsold work returned, we will also do so in 4-6 weeks. Thank you for your support and patience.
