Clifford Prince King: Hush-a-bye Dreams
Gordon Robichaux
Gordon Robichaux is honored to present an exhibition of photographs by Los Angeles-based artist, Clifford Prince King. This is the artist’s first solo exhibition in New York, and coincides with his first solo institutional exhibition, currently on view at the Kleefeld Contemporary Art Museum in Long Beach.
Based between New York and Los Angeles, Clifford Prince King is a photographer and filmmaker whose work is concerned with representing the rich and capacious interiority of Black queerness. King’s photographs—which have been shown in galleries and biennials across the country and featured in publications including Aperture, The New York Times, i-D, and Vogue—emerge from the everyday intimacy experienced between young Black gay men in the artist’s life. Arriving on the heels of a recently published monograph of the artist’s work titled Orange Grove (TIS books, 2022), Hush-a-bye Dreams showcases nine of King’s pictures dating from 2017 to 2022.
