Day Without Art - 1995
Day Without Art is dedicated to recording the work and lives of artists with HIV/AIDS. We urge members of every community to assist those living with HIV/AIDS to record their histories through visual, written, or verbal means. We urge members of every community to help those living with HIV/AIDS receive the services they need, every day of the year. Visual AIDS produces new artist designed broadsides by Robert Juarez, Steed Taylor, and William Cullum for national distribution.
On Friday, December 1, 1995, Visual AIDS, Creative Time and artnetweb, announced the Day With(out) Art Web Action. In this digital observance, over one hundred participating sites featured the Day With(out) Art logo—designed by Visual AIDS—on their home page, which was then linked to Web Action 1995. Designed by G.H. Hovagimyan, the site featured an animation of poetry by John Giorno, digital versions of four AIDS-related broadsides courtesy of Visual AIDS, and links to other HIV/AIDS sites.
