In support of the NYPL exhibition: Why We Fight: Remembering AIDS Activism
Eric Rhein's artistic practice is about remembering and surviving. In this workshop, Rhein will share his work and lead students on a journey in seeing the natural world as a source of strength and a means to know their best self, resulting in the creation of a drawn self-portrait.

No previous art experience is required.

ABOUT:
Eric Rhein's childhood was spent between Hudson, New York and the Appalachian Mountains of kentucky. Rhein attended the School of Visual Arts in New York for his BFA and MFA. His work has been exhibited widely, including the Sculpture Center, White Columns, Artists Space, Art in General.
Visual AIDS teams up with the New York Public Library to present a series of artist workshops for young adults in conjunction with their exhibition, WHY WE FIGHT: Remembering AIDS Activism. This series of interactive workshops, lead by artists living with HIV, will take place at library branches across Manhattan and the Bronx. Participants will gain artistic and creative skills, and learn more about HIV/AIDS history and activism.
