Magenta Lounge - A Queer Collective
One West Grand Avenue
Magenta Lounge is a Public Art exhibit in downtown Chicago. The artwork is projected from the second floor windows of One West Grand Avenue at night.
Five queer artists show artwork that represents their current art practice. Noah Cribb emphasizes abstracted relations to the immediate environment, focusing on the relationship of horizon lines and signals within the present moment; James Horner celebrates iconic individuals who are idolized by the queer community; Dustin Oriente studies gender identity, body image, sexuality and desire; Nathan Storey traces the relationship between printed matter and queer desire, memory, liberation, loss, and collectivity; and George Towne explores the gay male experience through figurative portraits and urban and rural landscapes important to the community.
