THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING: WOMEN / ART / AIDS / ACTIVISM
Community Center Akta, Tokyo
Taiwan-based artist J Triangular (born in Colombia) will exhibit four short videos from their series THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING, initially produced for Visual AIDS' 2019 Curatorial Residency. The videos will be on view at Community Center Akta in Tokyo, Japan, screening with Japanese subtitles. At the same time, works by Diego Barrera and An An Chen, Triangular's collaborators, will also be on display, as well as their collaborative zine project RUB.
THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING is a weekly webseries that responds to the lack of critical attention given to women living with HIV. Each episode produced for the Visual AIDS Curatorial Residency features activists and artists in New York City discussing their work and the ongoing urgency of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, centering queer voices and women of color. J has continued to develop the series with a fifth episode focusing on women living with HIV in Taiwan.
