VAVA honoring Mondo Guerra, Ann Northrop and the Founders of Visual AIDS
The Eighth Annual Visual AIDS Vanguard Awards
The Visual AIDS Vanguard Awards (VAVA) recognized the achievements and contributions of artists, activists and art supporters who have strengthened the cultural history of art activism and reinforced the mission of Visual AIDS.
HONORING:
The Visual AIDS Vanguard Award was presented to cultural art workers, activists and Visual AIDS founders:
• Robert Atkins (writer/curator)
• Thomas Sokolowski (former Director of The Andy Warhol Museum)
• Gary Garrels (Chief Curator at SF MoMa)
• William Olander (late Curator of the New Museum)
• Patrick O'Connell (Visual AIDS' founding Executive Director)
Additionally Visual AIDS will present a VAVA to:
• Ann Northrop (activist / journalist)
The Bill Olander award, which each year is awarded to an individual in the creative arts living with HIV who uses art as a platform for discussion and awareness, was presented to:
• Mondo Guerra (designer / Project Runway All Star)
