The Visual AIDS Vanguard Awards (VAVA) recognize the achievements and contributions of individuals who, through their work, talent and dedication, strengthen the cultural history of art, AIDS and activism in our community - and reinforce the mission of Visual AIDS.

Founded in 1988 Visual AIDS continues to utilizes art to fight AIDS by provoking dialogue, preserving a legacy of those we lost, and supporting HIV+ artists, because AIDS is not over.
