You Are Here: A Multi-media Presentation of Women's Ongoing Contribution to the HIV/AIDS Movement
Tenth Annual Women as the Face of AIDS Summit
Esther McGowan and Ted Kerr showcase the work of HIV+ women for the Visual AIDS Artist Registry to highlight the often under represented stories and histories of women within the HIV/AIDS movement for the Tenth Annual Women as the Face of AIDS Summit. The event will help participants see their own lives as history making, and to honor and celebrate women living with HIV , and those deeply impacted.
This presentation includes video interview with Iris De La Cruz, The Women of WAVE (Women’s AIDS Video Enterprise), artwork by Nancer LeMoins, Chloe Dzubilo, Kia Labeija, and Jessica Whitbread, and many others. After the presentation those in the room will be invited to discuss their own experience within the AIDS movement, seeing their own lives as part of the important and ongoing contribution to reducing the harm of HIV in their own lives and others.
Women have been doing life saving and inspiring work within the HIV/AIDS movement from the beginning. By sharing this history, creating a space for people to share their history and current work, participants will be further inspired to continue being the amazing agents of change that they already are.
