Conception (cards / 2009) - Wu Ingrid Tsang
"Conception" presents media headlines from June through November 1981; the moment just before AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) officially entered language. It is part of an ongoing project that considers the AIDS crisis, as a social event and as an art movement, from my position as an artist born in 1982. AIDS, as a word, disease and cultural phenomena, came into focus in parallel with the formation of my generation of queer political artists.
