We are devastated and disturbed by this week's tragic events in Washington DC. It’s during traumatic times like these that we are even more pressed to continue fighting for the important social justice work being done every day by our extended community of artists, activists, and nonprofit colleagues.
We are grateful that Visual AIDS has been able to continue its important work for more than 30 years, and particularly appreciative after this past year’s many challenges.
Though we have entered a new year and will soon be under a new presidency, it’s clear that the structural inequities and systems of oppression upon which this country is founded are still far from being dismantled. Calling out and undoing white supremacy is a responsibility that we must all continuously show up for in some way.
We send love and healing thoughts to our Black, Indigenous, and POC communities, everyone living with HIV and AIDS, those impacted by COVID-19, and all activists fighting to make the world a better place.
