In 1998 artist and designer Harvey Weiss redesigned the VISA logo for Visual AIDS: "AIDS It's Everywhere you Want to be." AIDS meds had just been introduced and Weiss wanted to call attention to the economic / corporate determinism of the AIDS crisis, the exclusivity of health care (membership has its privileges), the scope of the crisis, the relationship between AIDS and debt, and the growing complacency of the public.

Sadly, 15 years later not much has changed. Inspired by Weiss's work, Visual AIDS Executive Director Nelson Santos began his vacation by putting his graphic designer hat on and creating new logos that speak to the issues Weiss reveled, while also commenting on the ubiquity of AIDS in our world, even if no one is talking about it.
