ABOUT THE READERS

Rafael Sánchez, recent exhibitions include ‘Life of a Flower -Rafael Sánchez with Ellen Cantor, Jim Fletcher, Mark Morrisroe and Gail Thacker’, Gallerie Max Mayer (Düsseldorf, 2019); ‘Tree of Heaven’, Marlborough Gallery (NYC, 2018). Recent performances include ‘For a Reading Yet Unread’ for Visual AID’s ‘Last Address Walk’, St. Vincent’s Triangle Park (2018). ‘Novenas for a Lost Hospital’, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (2019). Visual art and performances have been presented at Artists Space, ICA, Boston, Jaclie 60, Ex-Teresa, Thread Waxing Space, Participant Inc, MoCA, Miami, El Museo del Barrio.

Author of 19 books of fiction, poetry, memoir, biography, and a book of Nuer oral poetry, Terese Svoboda published Great American Desert (stories) in 2019. Winner of a Guggenheim, a Bobst Fiction Prize, an Iowa Poetry Prize, a NEH translation grant, an O. Henry Award for the short story, the Graywolf Nonfiction Prize, 3 NYFA fellowships, a Pushcart Prize for an essay, a Bellagio libretto residency, and a Jerome Foundation Video Award, she also wrote WET, an opera that premiered at Disney Hall. Theatrix, a new book of poetry, is forthcoming from Anhinga Press in 2021.
