WHAT IS 21ST CENTURY LIBERATION? at the NYC Pride March
NYC Pride March
For Stonewall 50 and World Pride, Visual AIDS will be marching and distributing our latest broadside project: WHAT IS 21ST CENTURY LIBERATION?
If you would like to march with Visual AIDS, email Kyle Croft, Programs Manager, at kcroft@visualaids.org. Marchers will assemble at noon near Madison Square Park.
Designed by Avram Finkelstein, co-creator of SILENCE=DEATH, and Rodrigo Moreira, WHAT IS 21ST CENTURY LIBERATION? features the voices of an intergenerational group of artists and activists—ALOK, Jason Collins, Winter Collins, Timothy DuWhite, Lola Flash, Tenzin Gund-Morrow, Elle Hearns, Corey Johnson, Bill T. Jones, Elizabeth Koke, and Chris Vargas—reflecting on what liberation means to them.
The project aims to address the complex intersectional issues that link AIDS activism with LGBTQI+ activism, and with expansive forms of social justice activism, both historically and today.
WHAT IS 21ST CENTURY LIBERATION? is also co-presented as a large-scale installation at New York Live Arts for the months of June and July. Free copies of the broadside are available at New York Live Arts and at partnering organizations throughout New York.
If you do not live in New York City, you can order a broadside for the cost of shipping at the Visual AIDS store.
