Bruce Silverstein, 37, has been involved with photography since his early childhood. As the son of Larry Silver, a photographer and member of the Photo League, Bruce spent much of his time studying and observing the photographic process and was also encouraged to freely pursue his creative inclination through drawing and sculpture. In 1991 Bruce became an active collector of rare vintage photography. His passion for collecting vintage photography truly culminated in 2001 when he opened a small photography gallery called "The Bruce Silverstein Gallery" in Chelsea, New York. In this space Bruce specialized in revitalizing the careers of mid- and late-career artists as well as representing the estates of well-known master photographers. At present the gallery is expanding and re-locating to 535 West 24th Street under the name, "Bruce Silverstein Photography." This newly developed ground floor exhibition space will enable the gallery to continue to show photographic masterworks from the 18th, 19th and 20th century, while building upon it's tradition of rediscovering artists and increasing its representation of estates and of contemporary photographers.
