Shadows & Reflection
I chose the following artists because their images share a particular dark and mysterious investigation of the mundane. An existential perspective on the familiar, like worn sofas and windows with portals to unrecognizable terrain and a stop sign with a boy hovering under it. People appear like mere objects -- fractured, lifeless and abandoned. Objects like mirrors remain intact as relics or evidence of life's inability to confront itself and therefore the medium of photography is crucial as a useful tool for self-reflection and revelation of the human condition.
