ART & AIDS: Alegria features artwork created by GMHC clients living with HIV and AIDS and Visual AIDS Artist Members including Bino Alves, Luis Carle, eljay, Carmine Santianello, Brian Healey, Michael Keufterian, Dean Loren, George Lyter, Jovan Smalls, Benjamin Fredrickson, Peter Madero, PMS, Leon McCutcheon, Fitzgerald Providence, Peter J Robinson, Jr., Luis Mario Tavales, George Towne, Eduardo Vanzini and others.
The artworks, created in a variety of media, are the product of weekly therapeutic art classes run by GMHC’s Nutrition, Meals & Wellness Center and independent artists who take advantage of the services provided by the agency. Artwork will be available for purchase online at gmhc.org. Proceeds go directly to the artists, allowing them to increase their financial independence, which is particularly important for those who live on a limited income.Co-curated by Osvaldo Perdomo and David Livingston.
